AMX-02 The second AMX was restored by South Australian, Doug Abrahams after 20 years of ownership. The car was originally purchased as a shell with a box of parts, the restoration itself only took 12 months with the rest of 20 years being spent collecting parts. The orignial 343 engine was rebuilt to factory specs and many NOS parts were used to complete the restoration. The car recieved a professional paint job in factory Signal Red with white stripes. Doug has since sold the car to another guy who by coincidence is also called Doug and the car is now in New Zealand. The car is keeping pretty good company as Doug (NZ) also owns AMX number15 as well as several other AMXs and a Javelin of US origin.

AMX-03 The red car is AMX number 3, it runs a 325 bhp 390 V8 with auto transmission and is painted in signal red with white stripes. The wheels are Magnum 500's with redline tyres. You migh notice something unusual about this car, it has a back seat, not something you expect to see in an AMX. The car was purchased a few years ago from another AMC collector. The car is complete and very presentable athough it is starting to show some wear in the usual places. Andrew has plans to strip it down for rebuild some time in the future. He is currently doing that to his 74 Hornet hatch, which will have a nice 401 to replace the tired old 258 that was in it. The green car is AMX number 14

AMX-04 Gayr has owned AMX 04 since 1984, it is now in his new workshop at home, along with his Ford collection and will be built as time permits in its original factory Wattle Glow colour. The pictures below are from some years ago, when in a moment of weakness, he advertised it for sale, but it never sold at the time.
When new it was rebuilt as a show car for Premier Motors, repainted in Vermillion Fire and was on their stand at the 1970 Perth Motor Show at the Cottesloe Civic Centre.
The 360 for it was built by Ben Ludlow and produces around 450bhp, doing a pass at Ravenswood in 1986 in street trim at 12.1 seconds, piloted by Martin Stamatis the Top Fuel National Champion of 2010. This motor replaced it’s original 343 as John Kannis, the owner at the time, wanted more speed and told his father Theo that the original motor Was stuffed. The perfectly good 343 was installed in a CJ jeep by Ben Ludlow SNR who liked hotting up AMC 4wds!

AMX-06 This car, now believed to be in WA, was purchased more than 10 years ago by Craig King from a lady in Sydney who had the car, affectionately known as Jenavive, in storage for something like 20 years. Craig sold the car, which needed a full restoration to Jim Thompson in WA. Jim has since passed away and the current owner is unknown.

AMX-15 This car was sold new through Champion Motors in Adelaide and led a pretty normal life up until it was apparently "written off" due to an engine/dash fire. The story is that it was sold at auction and found its way to Hendon Studios for use in the Mad Max movie. There it was painted in the familiar yellow red and blue colour scheme of the MFP cars, however the director decided that he only wanted Australian vehicles for the pursuit cars and (probably fortunately) it never appeared in the movie. The car was sold off in Broken Hill after the movie was shot and repainted in Havana Gold. It dissapeared for a while and resurfaced in Nowra with the dark metallic brown paintwork. In 2013 the car was purchased by Doug and shipped off to New Zealand. In consideration of the Mad Max story, Doug has decied to restore the car with the MFP colour scheme. Doug also owns AMX number 2 as well as several other AMXs and a Javelin of US origin. As a side story a 1:64 scale version of a MFP AMX was actually produced by Jonny Lightening toys.

AMX-18 Ray Sprague was involved in exporting AMX-18 to the United States back in the late 1970's on behalf of a guy in California. Ray had the chance to go over and drive the car from California to Wisconson, what a road trip! For those who don't recognise it, the other car in the first picture in an AMX/3, this was intended to be AMC's answer to the Pantera. Several prototypes were built but sadly the car never made it into production. The white car in the second picture is AMX-24, the photo of the two together was taken before it left Australia. Another photo shows it out the front of an American Motors building in the US and the last two are from a US car show. The US owner apparently passed away some time ago and the current location of the car is unknown.
